WHAT WE ARE DOING
Petrol Sharing Benches = Ride Share
The Trust has been supporting Derry Kingston's Petrol Sharing benches and is in
the process of making them more visible. So watch for the new look! Do you know
where they are? Have you ever stopped and given someone a ride that was sitting
on one of the benches? We have a promotional campaign making these seats more
visible and more used. Watch the GB Weekly for details about our community's
"alternative bus service" and how to win prizes the first week of June!
World Environment Day 2008
We will be participating to support this great event during the week of 2-8 June 2008. We hope to have several events during the week and will update this page with details.
Feed the Bay Program
Out of the work that was started a year ago by the Golden Bay Community
Board and the September 2007 Self-Reliant Golden Bay Community Forum, the Trust
has begun work supporting major forum focus groups such as food supply. Our Feed
the Bay Program is an outcome of this Self-Reliant effort for our community.
The Trust has been coordinating and spearheading an innovative project to help Golden Bay residents become more self reliant and not dependent on transporting the majority of our food from outside the bay. In addition to working on the program for growing local staple foods such as potatoes, carrots, and onions we are also developing a nutritional education program to show residents how they can use staple foods
and grains to form complete protein balanced meals.
Our next meeting is 29 May 2008. Please contact Michael or Spring Thomas for
details on how you can be part of this program.
